Greetings.
I am new here. I am seeing an increasing number of clients in my practice expressing what is probably "Religious Trauma". I want to learn more about this to be as educating and helpful as possible. Historically, my practice has focused on psychological crises and disasters, including suicide, aggression, and natural and human-caused disasters since 1988.
Personally, I was raised in the Presbyterian church during my early years then to the First Church of God in my teen years. To say I experienced culture shock and cognitive dissonance from going from "Catholic-lite" to Evangelical Pentecostal" would be an understatement. Now, I am not affiliated with any formal religion and find comfort in focusing on purpose and service to others. I'm eager to learn more. SDB
