Thanks for the opportunity to process what I grew up in. It's sad, because I have good memories of church community, and evangelicals in the UK where I spent most of my childhood weren't like this, but here, I've lost my entire Christian community over Trump or my reaction to him. I have decided I can't attend any church stateside now - seeing the Christian flag and the American flag in a church is way too much for me after watching January 6th live. All the things evangelicals taught me about repentance have gone out the window since Trump. Seems to me American evangelicals don't really know the God I grew up believing in in the UK. Glad I wasn't brought up here, but it's a shame. Am sure some here can relate to the pain of losing the church community. What communities have you found offline that help? Feel free to comment.

Ron, I have to say it's just another country in the end. We are a military family and I love this country, but it isn't special; in fact it's far more corrupt than some others. I do not want to worship under an American flag; that is one of the biggest problems with the American church. It's just the Church, there should be no "American" about it. I have had quite a lot of help from Episcopalians in my time of exile, so I haven't ruled out finding a church family quite yet. While I see nothing wrong with loving the nation God put us in, it's pretty clear to me that nationalism is heresy for a Christian.
