Hello All, I see there were a few requests for therapists and recognition of a gap in clinicians skill sets in this area. I feel your need. I'm a traumatized trauma therapist who is creatively piecing together her own recovery because the program I need doesn't exist yet. One of my last grad classes (2017) I designed a (ironically yes) 12 step style of group consciousness recovery for spiritual and religious abuse. This exercise was the first step in a deconstruction that resulted in my surrendering my credentials. I was a member of a national Christian psychotherapy association that I knew protected Christian Counsellors with a passion for conversion therapy. I'm ashamed to admit that was the first time I really realized how abusive it was to condemn someone for their sexuality! And how there's no justifiable theological room for such treatment of another human being. I am so sorry! Respect for my clients experience and seeing the harm in the beliefs of my association, I had to depart. Oh, my regret over my two seminary degrees! But, still, more than anything I feel I need the very group that I was designing. Does anyone else? Thanks for reading. I've been a silent member of this community a long time now and this topic - is dear to my heart? Has carved up my heart? I don't know but whenever you read this, it's not too late to reply. Thanks.
